Department of Biomedical Engineering
In 2003, Frank C-P Yin, Department Chair of Biomedical Engineering (BME) commissioned me to develop an installation for the department’s new building. The idea was to display the department’s exciting research on each floor, to be seen from the building’s atrium. Ordinarily, I would have visited the labs and imaged the research, but there was not the luxury of time for the project. That was the challenge. Our solution was to go through a series of images taken by the researchers and select those that were scientifically important and had the potential to be enhanced to exhibition quality digital prints. Frank and I decided on the final four. I then similarly enhanced each set of four in three different ways resulting in one set for each floor, each set relating to the others.
